Carbohydrates is one of the most essential diets that the human race cannot afford to do without, they are basically for energy which is important for the day today functionality of humans in these rigorous ever changing world. Proteins and fats are also very important in the provision of energy in the body but for them they are long term but carbohydrates provide the most immediate source of energy, carbohydrates are preferred by the body in relation to the fats and proteins because they are easily broken into their constituents that the body can readily absorb.

For the body to function optimally it requires 60 to 50 percent of its calories that comes daily from carbohydrates. Persons that do not have adequate carbohydrates run the risk of the healthy carbohydrates being replaced by unhealthy fats. It is also important that carbohydrates diet be complimented with fibers and vegetables that make them wholesome.

The sources of carbohydrates include: whole grains like barley, oats quinoa, brown rice, wheat pasta, vegetables and fruits, beans lentils and dried peas among other very minor components that provide the same.

Caution should be however be there, because too much carbohydrate will definitely lead to weight gain, this is way the emphasis on moderation for their intake is good and the diversification occasionally making the body not to lack any other important nutrients. The diversification enables the body to fight against diseases as the body has in his arsenal everything that they require.

The routine essentially in healthy eating is that the food should contain at least 80 percent carbohydrates and the rest from other nutrients that is vitamins, proteins among others.
