A balanced diet is necessary to provide calories you require for living a healthy life.  The calories you require should normally come from healthy diet and not from junk foods.  Therefore it is necessary that you avoid foods that contain excessive fat, cholesterol, sodium, or calories.

You will find a huge amount of saturated fat in red meat.  It is an animal product that is rich in cholesterol and fat.  Similarly, the fast food that has become a style of life to day contains high calories and sodium.  Especially the fast foods like Pizza, burger, and fries are very rich in these components and should be avoided from your diet.

One egg yolk contains as much as 215 mgs of cholesterol.  It also gives you 80 calories.  Therefore consumption of more of it could be harmful for your heart and health.  Of course the plus point is that it is rich in protein.

Do not forget avoiding foods like Ice creams and potato since both these items cause you gain weight.  While ice cream contains nothing other than fat, potato chips are rich in calories and sodium. Mere 100 gram weight potato chips can give you 1000 to 1200 calories.  Chocolate, sugar, cakes, nuts, and pie are equally bad since all cause fat and cholesterol and should be avoided in any healthy diet.

It does not mean you will avoid food altogether.  You should make your diet with 5 to 6 very light meals through the day so as to keep a high metabolic rate.  Else you may gain weight due to slow metabolism.  Your diet should contain rich nutrients or else you may loose health and not fat.

A healthy diet for you should contain vegetables, fruits, whole grains as major components.  Since protein, fat and carbohydrate are important nutrients you should consume them but the amount should be moderate.
